FLOAT is more than just being in the water—it’s about reclaiming space, healing through movement, and finding freedom in flow. We provide access to water, create safe spaces, and empower women to Float With Ease, knowing that when we heal ourselves, we heal our communities.
OUR MISSION: FLOAT is a grassroots social and ocean justice program that fosters healing, empowerment, and water safety for marginalized and justice-impacted women by providing access to nature, reclaiming ancestral connections, and removing barriers to engagement, so that through trust, community, and ritual, we can heal historical trauma, increase water safety, and save lives.
OUR VISION: That by building and fostering community among marginalized populations of women, we can build ritual practice, teach and empower, and can feel safe in order to increase our livelihoods. By taking these steps, we will learn ancestral wisdom, gain knowledge, and develop skills in an effort to release and heal historical trauma so that these fears will not be passed down to partners and children, therefore increasing water safety and saving lives.
Float’s Principles of the 5 R’s toward Ocean Justice and Community Wellness:
RECLAIM. RELEASE. REPAIR. RECOVER. REMEMBER. REJOICE.
At FLOAT, we:
Foster community and connection
Liberate through water access and trust
Overcome barriers and reclaim our stories
Activate healing, resilience, and knowledge
Transform lives through joy, safety, and empowerment
WANT TO KNOW MORE? Through a host of workshops, events, and kiki’s on land in the water, we come together to congregate and celebrate. Gatherings range from indoor sound baths, spa visits, beach visits, deprivation tank experience, chartered boat rides, ferry trips to nearby islands, picnics on the beach.
We do this in private spaces so that we can gather without fear and judgement, to see ourselves reflected, allowing us the ability to build confidences on mutually shared experiences and to not feel obligated to perform or explain. And when we get together, we get loud. We get loud because we ARE loud. Our JOY is loud. And our REST is loud.
Our REST is loud because we are FREE. We are EBULLIENT and JOYFUL. When we are together, there is splashin’ and singin’, cryin’ and laughin’, cussin’ and fussin.’ Float is a space where it’s ok to be free in our bodies and demeanor. We are not self-conscious, embarrassed, or ashamed.
The water is yours. Welcome home. The water is divine.
